I was horrified to learn that the pilot who crashed his souped-up plane at the Reno Air Show last week was trying a trick he’d never done before. With spectators present. Not a good move, especially with a plane he had altered somehow; that was basically a second wildcard. Newscasters said it was evident the pilot tried [heroically] to avoid hitting the crowd. When? In the nanosecond that transpired between the time the plane was doing fine and the time it took a nosedive into the ground? My heart goes out to the folks who have and will suffer as a result of this terrible accident.
