Several times recently in social and mainstream media, I’ve heard Teddy Roosevelt’s famous quote regarding national security, “Speak softly, and carry a big stick.”
I’ve always liked that quote, and extend the concept to my personal security. I don’t always speak softly, nor do I routinely carry (or pick up) sticks. This is strictly a mental exercise; I simply think of myself as “quietly queen-like” or “mildly majestic” or “relaxed-ly royal” (“softly sovereign”?) in order to emanate that “I’m so good I can’t be touched but if you do touch me I’ll royally kick your ass either physically or verbally or via our broken down criminal justice system so help me God” vibe.
It’s very effective.
